Japan Knocks Australia Out of Women's World Cup

Japan reached the semi-finals of the Women's World Cup with a narrow victory over Australia. Japan scored from close range with three minutes remaining off a rebound from a blocked shot.
Japan could have broken the deadlock early in the first half, but lobbed an effort over the bar, squandering the opportunity. Australia played much of the game on the back foot, with Alanna Kennedy's free-kick the closest they came. Japan dominated the time of possession battle having the ball over sixty percent of the game.
