Martina Renner, a Die Linke member and parliamentarian, said her party wanted to ask German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) officials whether the organisation had spied on Germany's European partners and neighbours, at parliament in Berlin on Wednesday. Renner said her party had numerous questions for BND president Gerhard Schindler, who is due to attend a second hearing at the NSA inquiry committee. She believes the BND may have been “lax” in protecting “European interests” and wants to find out if Germany's European partners really have been spied on. Interior Minister and CDU party member Thomas de Maiziere is expected to appear as a witness in front of the inquiry committee on Thursday.
