China: Audi unveils R8 e-tron self-driving concept at CES in Shanghai

Audi showcased its brand new Audi R8 e-tron self-driving concept at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Shanghai, Monday. The concept is equipped with a 455 bhp electric powertrain, has a top speed of 155 mph (249 km/h) and is capable of 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds. The battery can be fully recharged in slightly less than two hours. Based on the Audi R8 e-tron, the concept car is the third autonomous vehicle Audi have pioneered, following trials with the A7 and the RS7. Audi were also showcasing the self-driving A7 by taking customers of self-driving trips around Shanghai. Although the A7 is not equipped with a full self-driving option, it can be utilised in traffic jams or on motorways.
