Violence erupted as police and demonstrators clashed for a second straight day in Barcelona this Tuesday, as the Spanish Supreme Court sentenced Catalan independence leaders to 13 years in prison.
Footage shows protesters throwing flares and pushing barriers as riot police charged the crowds. Spanish flags were also set alight, as angry pro-independence protesters faced off with the authorities.
The protest continued into Tuesday after Spain's Supreme Court sentenced former Catalan Vice President Oriol Junqueras to 13 years in prison for his role in the autonomous region's attempt to secession.
A total of nine Catalan leaders were also sentenced for leading the failed secession push.
