Los Angeles Moves To Boost Minimum Wage To $15 An Hour

Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday paved the way for raising the minimum wage in the nation’s second-largest city to $15 an hour by 2020, representing a huge victory for those trying to boost the lower end of the payscale in their fight against poverty.
Under the tentative proposal approved by all but one of the 15 City Council members, the current hourly minimum wage of $9 will climb to $10.50 in July 2016, and from there steadily rise over time to $15 by July 2020.
