24.05.2015
In what activists called a landmark peace event, a group of women crossed Korea's DMZ line Sunday even after they were at first turned back.
The International women activists included Gloria Steinem and two Nobel Peace laureates tried to walk across the Demilitarized Zone dividing North and South Korea but were denied. They then crossed the line by bus to complete what one of them called a landmark peace event. The North allowed a South Korean bus to cross the demarcation line to pick them up on the North side of the DMZ and transport them over the border to South Korea. 81 year old feminism pioneer and author Steinem described the group as citizen diplomats.
