The 2016 G20 General Assembly got underway in Hangzhou, Sunday, with world leaders and senior representatives of economic bodies lining the conference room.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, the host of this year’s summit, told those in attendance that "The G20 members include all major economies in the world, and the world expects us to offer remedies to the world economy, bringing strength, sustainability, balance and inclusiveness. G20 members need to come together to strengthen their coordination in macroeconomic policies, jointly promote growth and safeguard financial stability."
The G20 summit, held between 4 and 5 September in Hangzhou, sees governments and representatives from 20 major economic powers meet and discuss strategies for fiscal policy and international financial stability. 2016's G20 summit will be the 11th of its kind. It is the first time that China, Asia's largest economic power, has held the summit.
