Supporters of French Economy Minister and possible Presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron and his liberal En Marche movement received a hostile welcome from protesters at an event hosted by Macron in Paris, Tuesday.
"This is a politics that disappointed the electorate, the French as a whole, the people. This is what they want but not the left. This is a politics for bankers and the neoliberal EU," said one protester as attendees at the chic event were pelted with eggs, flour, and water.
Macron, who recently proposed and implemented an extremely unpopular set of labour reforms, is tipped as a possible future French presidential candidate. His movement, "tous en marche" (all together) is intended to unite centrist liberals in France outside of the traditional political parties and with an emphasis on younger voters.
