Demonstrators took to the streets of Rome on Saturday, to protest against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government and to mark the 20th anniversary of PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan's capture by Turkey.
A number of organisations and unions joined the protest, with people from the Kurdish community and Italians alike marching along the streets of the Italian capital's city centre. Local media said 5,000 people took part in the march.
Banners and a sea of Kurdish flags were seen while traditional Kurdish music was played, in what reportedly remained a largely peaceful protest.
