Bosnia and Herzegovina: Dodik votes in municipal elections

The President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik voted in the local elections in his home town of Laktasi on Sunday, in the seventh local election since 1995.
Citizens from Bosnia and Herzegovina are voting in 5,469 polling stations in 141 local communities this weekend. At the end of the day they will have chosen 131 mayors, 10 City Mayors and 3,136 councilors. The local elections will determine if Dodik's ruling party, the Alliance of Independent Social-Democrats, will continue to run the municipalities or if the pro-European, The Alliance for Changes, will replace them.
The country has 3,263,906 registered voters, and the candidates' lists contain more than 30,302 contenders. Poll stations opened at 7am.
