Germany: Protesters march for refugee rights as Interior Minister arrives in Magdeburg

Refugees and pro-refugee activists took part in a "March against racist asylum laws" in Magdeburg, Tuesday, marching from the city centre to the Regiocom GmbH headquarters where German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere made an appearance. The protesters, most of them refugees from the Middle East alongside youth activists from the 'Antirassistisches Netzwerk' (Anti-racist Network), called for the rights of asylum seekers to be respected and rejected deportations under the Dublin Regulation, which allows Germany to deport refugees to the first country in the European Union that they entered. At the end point of the march protesters held a picket aiming to draw attention to refugees' conditions, under the slogan "Mr Coldheart is coming," addressed to Interior Minister de Maiziere.
