The Eiffel Tower is Closed

The company that manages the the Eiffel Tower closed it to the public on Friday because of a walkout by workers protesting the prevalence of pickpockets at the world-famous landmark. A message on the landmark's Facebook page says, "The Eiffel Tower is currently closed due to the exercise of the right to withdraw of its staff," "Thank you for your understanding."
The site is normally open to visit the top from 9:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. local time.
The workers' protest came one day after Paris authorities said crime against tourists in the French capital had dropped this year due to reinforced police presence and video surveillance.
