Ukraine: DPR's Basurin condemns Ukrainian authorities' "inhuman crimes"

Eduard Basurin, the Deputy Defence Minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, gave a statement to the press on Monday in Donetsk about the shelling of cities in eastern Ukrainian in the last days saying that in the last 24 hours five people were killed and fourteen were injured. Basurin said that the fatalities were in Donetsk, where three people were killed, and nine injured. In Gorlovka two people died and four were wounded, while in Telmanovo one person was wounded. Basurin then called on the UN, OSCE, and PACE to stop the bloodshed and prevent a new round of fighting in the region. He said he wanted especially Russia and the European Union to persuade President Petro Poroshenko to stop the escalation of the conflict and prevent its transition to the military stage. The February 12 Minsk agreement brought a halt to the fighting that has killed, by UN estimates, over 6,500 but that ceasefire now appears to be fraying.
