Thousands of protesters congregated in Buenos Aires's Congress Square on Thursday, as the law to implement a food emergency scheme was being discussed in the Senate.
Demonstrators brought banners, signs and flags, while chanting and playing the drums. The march was organised by various social movements.
The emergency food bill, which was passed by legislators in the Congress, still requires approval by the Senate. If passed, it would increase resources to food assistance programs by 50 per cent.
Argentina is currently facing its highest inflation rate since 1991, with the most vulnerable sectors of society expected to bear the brunt of the price rises.
