Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday maintained that “we have not stopped helping Ukraine,” while discussing Kiev’s debt to Russia in Moscow. He urged the Finance Minister Anton Siluanov to call on the IMF to lend money to Ukraine, saying it is “easier to choose this way by giving three billion [USD] to Ukraine so that it can pay its debts.” Putin referred to Moscow’s decision to call-in the debt, saying that “we had the right to ask Ukraine to pay the debt earlier” but that it was not done “to make the situation in the Ukrainian economy worse.” Putin also said Syrian “issues should be discussed calmly during the working process in order that we are not blamed for everything.” He said amid accusations that “say we strike the wrong sites,” ... “American aviation destroyed a power station and electricity transformer in Aleppo on Sunday.” He asked “why did they do this? Whom did they punish? Where is the sense in it? No one understands.”
