Large celebrations surrounded the headquarters- of Greece's reopened Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) in Athens, Thursday, after parliament passed a bill yesterday to resurrect the state network after it was shut down two years ago because of forced austerity measures. Both Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis and Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis were on site to welcome the return of the state run media station after two years of closure when the previous conservative-led government abandoned the 75-year-old institution on June 11, 2013. Around 2,500 staff who were forced into redundancy over the media service's closure, but the government plans to rehire many of its previous workers.
