Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at a polling station in Kiev on Sunday to cast his vote in the country's snap parliamentary election.
“I would like to see only new faces,” Zelensky said of the new Rada.
His predecessor as president, Petro Poroshenko, said he had voted “for the UN, for NATO, for a European and Euro-Atlantic Ukraine,” after casting his ballot at a separate polling station in the capital.
The leader of the Fatherland party, ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, also cast her vote at a polling station in Kiev.
Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrei Paruby and leader of the ‘Voice’ party Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, also known as the front man of the Okean Elzy band, also cast their ballots in the parliamentary vote.
Vakarchuk said he had voted for a new Ukrainian politics.
"It is not enough to change only a president, we need to change [the] Rada in order to make real changes," he said.
