Militay helicopters have been deployed in a special operation in the Romit valley, Tajikistan, Saturday, where a group of militants with their leader Abdulkhalim Nazarzodi were suspected of hiding. Earlier on Saturday, the Tajik Interior Ministry reported that 32 members of Abdukhalim Nazarzoda's group were detained and 13 killed as a result of the operation in the city and the valley and more than 500 weapons and ammunition was seized. Nine police officers were also reportedly killed and several others injured after an attack by unidentified gunmen on a security checkpoint in the town of Vahdat, just outside the Tajik capital of Dushanbe. Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a phone talk with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon that the recent events in Tajikistan were an attempt to destabilise the country, Russian Channel One said, citing presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
