The commune of Biot in southeastern France was hit by violent storms and flooding on Saturday night, killing at least 16 people, officials said. The footage shows hundreds of damaged cars displaced by floodwaters. The French Riviera and especially the cities of Antibes and Nice were hit by torrential rainfall. An estimated 27,000 homes are without electricity on Sunday after the Brague River overflowed. Railway services have ground to a halt and hundreds of people are stranded at Nice Airport. A football match between Nice and Nantes was also postponed due to the heavy rain. Hundreds of police and fire officers have beenmobilised for rescue operations across areas affected by the floods.
