Activists protested outside Halong Hotel in Berlin on Saturday, where a conference was being held by COMPACT magazine, a publication known for its support of far-right populist groups such as Pegida and Alternative for Germany (AfD).
Around 70 activists rallied in front of hotel, holding banners reading messages like "Stop the mental arson, fight against Pegida and racism", while chanting slogans against xenophobia. One demonstrator was arrested by police, reportedly for covering his face.
Among the attendees of the conference were two members of far-right group the Identitaere Bewegung (English: Identitarian movement). Pegida leader Lutz Bachmann was also on the guestlist, but did not enter through the main entrance.
