Moldova: ‘Judas!’ Mob attacks ex-Pres. Ghimpu after pro-EU vote

Moldovan Liberal Party leader Mihai Ghimpu was reportedly taken to hospital with head injuries in the Moldovan capital of Chisinau on Wednesday night, after he was mobbed by a gang of protesters near parliament.
The politician was set upon by a large group chanting "Judas!" Armed police had to be called in to secure Ghimpu's safety. After receiving head injuries, he was reportedly escorted to hospital, according to local media.
The incident comes following a day of major protests in the capital where thousands have taken to the streets to demonstrate against Moldovan lawmakers' decision to approve the pro-EU cabinet led by Pavel Filip. The opposition Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, the Our Party and the Civil Platform DA (Dignity and Justice) are among the organisations calling for the massive protests that are rocking the capital of the small ex-Soviet state.
