Indian Heat Wave Kills Over One Thousand People

Over the past week, more than 1,100 people have been killed by extreme heat in India.
Summer-month heat waves are common in South Asia but climate change has clearly been contributing to more instances of this extreme weather.
Experts are predicting longer and more intense heat waves in the near future, both in India and in other countries.
Although the Indian Monsoon season should kick in during mid-June, it is not expected to bring an average to above average amount of rain, which could hurt the country's food production and keep the heat going for longer than it otherwise would.
