Over 1,000 people marched through Frankfurt on Friday to protest the official festivities for the 25th anniversary of the re-unification of Germany. Protesters marched from the train station through the city centre of the country's financial capital, which was part of former West Germany, holding banners against the unified Germany and in support of the abolition of borders. They claimed that there is "nothing to celebrate" about the re-unification. October 3rd will mark 25 years since the German Democratic Republic (GDR/East Germany) and the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG/West Germany) officially reunited into one country.
