Students and teachers of the Kremlin Equestrian Riding School put on a spectacular show for the public in Moscow on Russia Day, Friday June 12. Hundreds came to watch the show which took place for the first time since the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Riders and horses demonstrated their talents, showing off their acrobatic and choreographic skills. Some riders rode their horses standing up, also carrying the flag of Russia and their riding school. Russia Day, celebrated on June 12, has been observed every year since 1992 to mark Russia's adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation. Many attend concerts and firework displays in cities across the country. In the capital renowned Russian writers, scientists and humanitarian workers traditionally receive awards and medals from the Russian president.
