President Barack Obama addressed the nation Thursday in the wake of the tragic shooting at a predominantly black church in Charleston, South Carolina, that killed nine people.
Speaking from the White House, Obama expressed "deep sorrow" over the senseless act of violence which took place Wednesday inside Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Obama said,
"There is something particularly heartbreaking about a death happening in a place we seek solace."
U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch confirmed earlier this morning that Dylann Roof, the 21-year-old white man suspected as the shooter in what has been labeled a "hate crime," is in custody.
