Algerian police arrested several journalists in Algiers on Thursday during a protest against what protesters say is censorship in reporting the anti-government protests that have sparked throughout the country.
"We are here to say no to censorship and no to pressures to the media, we demand a press law that protect private channels from the pressure and the blackmail of advertising," one protester said.
Heavy protests have erupted throughout Algeria following the announcement made by the 81-year-old Abdelaziz Bouteflika this month that he would seek re-election in the April 18 presidential vote.
State media reportedly only reportedly broadcast covering the wave of protests only last Tuesday.
