Thousands of people took the streets of Athens on Saturday, protesting the arrest of eleven pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) politicians in Turkey.
The protesters held banners with slogans such as "No to the dictatorship of Erdogan" and marched to Syntagma Square in the centre of Athens, before heading to the Turkish embassy, where they staged a rally.
On Friday, eleven Turkish MPs, including the HDP party co-leaders Selahattin Demirtas and Figen Yuksekdag, were detained for not bearing testimony following alleged terror connections. The move has drawn condemnation from Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, as well as other international leaders.
