The Most Common Airline Fees, and How to Avoid Them

U.S. airlines are making record profits from extra fees. The fees are for things like checked bags, seat selections, priority boarding, extra legroom and anything else they can think to charge for.
Unfortunately, those profits are coming from passengers' wallets.
According to Airlines for America, about 222 million passengers will board U.S. airlines this summer. There are ways they can avoid some of the fees. Most airlines charge $25 each way for the first checked bag, and more for the second.
