The Russian and Kazakh Presidents penned an agreement in Astana on the delimitation of the northern part of the Caspian Sea bed to implement rights for sub-oil use in, Thursday. The deal sees to both countries assuming sovereign rights for subsoil exploration and exploitation. According to Russian President Putin, the agreement provides the "delimitation of the northern part of the Caspian Sea," where "we have big plans on joint oil production." He believes "this will allow companies of both countries to begin the development of the Tsentralnaya [Central] field's large hydrocarbon deposits." Moreover, Kazakh President Nazarbayev said the two leaders also spoke about major infrastructure projects that lead all the way to China. Among the most prominent are the "the completion of the Western Europe - Western China International Transit Corridor." The Russian President arrived in Astana on Wednesday evening for meetings with Kazakh President Nazarbayev and major gatherings of the CIS and Eurasian Economic Union. The two leaders intend to discuss bilateral relations, co-operation within the Eurasian Economic Union and pressing international issues.
