The Royal Navy conducted drills along the southern coast of England in September, in preparation for the NATO exercise 'Trident Juncture' which is taking place throughout October and into early November. The footage, released Monday, shows Plymouth-based Royal Navy and Royal Marine units taking part in the manoeuvres. Commodore Martin Connell, Commander of the Amphibious Task Group, described the alliance's exercise as "a real valuable opportunity for NATO." Royal Marines performed a mock-attack on a beach, while various Royal Navy vessels, including the HMS Bulwark, displayed their capabilities. Captain Nick Cooke-Priest, Commanding Officer of HMS Bulwark, said the exercise was aimed at showing that the Navy can "deal with any eventuality that global activities might throw at us." The Trident Juncture military drills were launched on September 28 and will conclude on November 6. They are the largest NATO joint exercise in over a decade with approximately 36,000 personnel from over 30 NATO member states and partners due to take part.
