22.03.2016
French Minister for the Interior Bernard Cazeneuve announced in Paris on Tuesday the increased security measures that the French government has implemented following the attacks in Brussels earlier that morning.
He said, "At the request of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister, we have just updated the security at our disposal in place on the French borders, but also within transport infrastructure."
Two explosions ripped through Zaventem airport in Brussels around 08:00 (07:00 GMT) on Tuesday morning, followed around an hour later by an explosion in the city’s Maelbeek metro station.
The apparent bomb attacks have come four days after the capture in Brussels of Salah Abdeslam, the main suspect in the jihadist attacks in Paris on 13 November 2015. Belgium has raised its terror threat to its highest level.
