"A system which allows only the fittest and those, rich enough to pay the smugglers to reach a safe haven like Europe is wrong," Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz said at the 70th UN General Assembly in New York, Thursday, while commenting on the refugee crisis. Kurz proposed to create a new way for refugees to apply for asylum in safe havens like Europe in their home countries already, or neighbouring countries respectively. "The United Nations could help in the establishment of such reception and information centres which would allow to introduce [sic] resettlement programmes," the minister added. He also commented on the crisis in Syria, urging the US and Russia to work together. Moreover, Kurz stated that Assad can't be bypassed, if peace is the objective to be reached in Syria. "You can't only talk to your friends," he concluded.
