Ukraine: 'Financial Maidan' activists rally outside the Rada

Angry citizens gathered outside the Verkhovna Rada in Kiev, Thursday, hoping to meet Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko after he gave his annual speech. Protesters are demanding the ratification of the law on restructuring the liabilities for loans in foreign currencies, which will allow loaning money to pay back using old currency rates. Joined by those who lost their savings and deposits, demonstrators urged the government to protect the credit users' rights amid a dramatic fall of the Ukrainian currency, the hryvnia. The hryvnia currently stands at 21.10 against the USD and 23.90 to the EUR.
