Former Israeli Minister of Justice and popular activist Ayelet Shaked were among those who showed up early to cast her vote in the Israeli general election on Tuesday morning in Tel Aviv.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who failed to form a coalition government after the first election, is now trying to win a record fifth term and has as main competitor former military chief of staff Benny Gantz.
Netanyahu has pledged to annex the Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea in case he wins the election. This move drew sharp criticism amongst the Arabic community since the area constitutes more than 30 percent of the West Bank and has approximately 65,000 Palestinians and 11,000 Israeli settlers as its inhabitants.
