Irish aid volunteers celebrated St Patrick's Day a day early at the Idomeni refugee camp on Wednesday, and were jоined in the festivities by residents оf the camp оn the Greek-Macedоnia border.
Charity volunteer Kevin Kelly said his group had travelled for 72 hours non-stop in order to reach Idomeni with a van-full of donated clothes.
"We're dressed up because tomorrow is Saint Patrick's Day, it is an important day for us. So we are missing a big day in Ireland for this," he said, adding that "it's time now" that the people of Europe tackle the humanitarian crisis in the camp.
More than 12,000 people are stranded at the camp following the decision by European countries, including Macedonia, further along the so-called 'Balkan trail' to close their borders to the refugee influx.
