Dozens of protesters and activists from the Black Live Matters movement rallied in Cerritos in L.A. County, Monday, to protest against police violence and to demand justice for those who have been killed by police in the USA. The march was held on Memorial Day, a US holiday dedicated to those who have fallen while serving in the military, and also on African Liberation Day. One of the activists present at the rally said that they were claiming Memorial Day as 'Black Memorial Day' for the African American victims of police brutality. The demonstrators marched through several different locations in L.A. County before rallying in Cerritos, where 21-year-old African American Nephi Arriguin was killed on May 7, 2015. Activists held speeches, carried banners against police brutality and performed dances in the street. The protest was organised by the Black Lives Matter movement, which was founded after the fatal shooting of 17-year-old African American Trayvon Martin in 2012.
