Astronomers Find Distance To Farthest Galaxy In Known Universe

Scientists have just measured the distance to the farthest galaxy yet discovered. It's far. Astronomers using the Keck Observatory in Hawaii clocked the distance of the galaxy EGS-zs8-1 to at least 13 billion light-years away, making it the most distant galaxy yet measured. The universe itself is only about 13.7 billion years old, and this galaxy probably formed less than 670 million years after the universe came into being.
