Protesters wearing hazmat suits and gas masks pretended to clean the streets of the central Polish city of Kalisz on Sunday, after hundreds of people joined the city's first LGBT+ pride parade.
A heavy police presence was on hand as other protesters shouted abuse at the participants from along the route, with police at one point using pepper spray to keep protesters away from the parade.
Poland's ruling Law and Justice party has been repeatedly accused of encouraging homophobic prejudice, with party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski saying that the LGBT+ rights movement was a foreign import that threatens the country in April.
