Thousands of protesters blocked London streets on Monday, as part of the Extinction Rebellion (XR) movement's seventh's day of direct action in the British capital.
Protesters were seen chanting, dancing and waving flags in front of a heavy police presence in the streets. The demonstration was held at the time when the Queen was opening the Parliament.
Some 1,400 Extinction Rebellion protesters were reportedly arrested on Monday, amid demonstrations attempting to disrupt flights in London City airport and blocking the entrances of BlackRock, Bank of England and Barclays. Police ordered all XR protests to stop in London on Monday evening as the movement had announced plans to target MI5, the UK's security service, on Tuesday.
