President Vladimir Putin arrived in Paris on Friday for the Normandy Quartet talks on the Ukraine crisis. He was met by the Russian Ambassador to France, Alexander Orlov, before travelling to the Elysee Palace to meet French President Francois Hollande, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The discussions are expected to focus on the level of political-autonomy for the rebels in Donetsk and Lugansk regions within constitutional reform, the Ukrainian elections and amnesty for combatants. It will be the first time since Putin faces his European counterparts since Moscow launched airstrikes in Syria on Wednesday and there are fears that could overshadow the talks.
