SOT Shohei Nakanowatari, Manager of Creative Design Department Innovation Strategy Division, Bandai Namco Research Inc. (Japanese): "What we have been aiming for is that, for instance, when people talk about 'AI' most of time it is explained by difficult words, but the reinforcement learning for this robot is like that, it is repeating mistakes and mistakes, it progresses through trial and error. That kind of process seems like that of a 'human being.' Our robot 'Kyugoro' makes that 'humanity' or 'quite human' able to be visualised as 'AI.'

Robot gamers, robot dogs, virtual reality portals and uber-smart cars all shined under the spotlight of the annual Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (CEATEC) electronics trade show as it kicked off in the Japanese city of Chiba on Tuesday.
Among the exhibited products were an AI GAMER robot developed by Bandai Namco that mimics human emotion and learns through trial and error and an 'XR Door' developed by KDDI Corporation that allows one to walk in and out of virtual reality.
Sony upped the kawaii ante with a new version of its Aiwo robot dog, while Mitsubishi unveiled the newest iteration of its EMIRAI4 smart mobility concept car.
CEATEC will take place between Tuesday and Friday.
