Children frolicked in fountains and grown men drank water in the shade as the heat wave gripping southern California continued, Sunday. Several areas recorded all-time highs, with Camarillo Airport hitting temperatures of 108ºF (42ºC), breaking the previous record of 103ºF (39ºC) recorded on September 23, 1978. Triple digits were also recorded in Long Beach and various other locations. Authorities have warned of sun-stroke and are strongly urging the population to keep hydrated. The heat has also raised concerns of fire, while thousands of people are without electricity due to heat-induced power shortages.
