Former IMF boss and one-time French presidential hopeful Dominique Strauss-Kahn arrived at Lille's criminal court on Friday to hear the verdict on whether or not he was guilty of charges of 'aggravated pimping'. The French court acquitted Strauss-Kahn of the charges, although his sex practices were condemned as "beast-like" orgies. Codefendant Dominique Alderweireld, aka 'Dodo the Pimp', told reporters before the trail that he thought the charges against Strauss-Kahn were politically motivated, stating that "they wanted to make DSK fall. It failed, but at least they tried". Alderweireld added that "I think that if Dominique Strauss-Kahn wasn't involved, there would never have been a trial". Sxity-six-year-old Strauss-Kahn had been charged with 'aggravated pimping' and accused of helping a Lille-based prostitution ring acquire sex workers. He denied the claims but reportedly admitted his involvement in orgies. Supplying or facilitating the supply of prostitutes is illegal in France despite the fact that using them is not.
