Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the parents of deceased police officer Magomed Nurbagandov, in Novo-Ogaryovo, Wednesday. The officer was killed by militants in Dagestan village, in Sergokala, on July 10.
Putin called the Junior Lieutenant Nurbagandov "a real hero" and thanked his parents for their son’s work. The Russian President went on to say, "Only real heroes, real men - and you brought up your son so - can fearlessly look into the eyes of death."
Putin posthumously honoured Magomed Nurbagandov with a star of the Hero of the Russian Federation for his courage in the face of death.
Dagestani police officer Nurbagandov was murdered on July 10 after militants captured him and his cousin, Abdurashid Nurbagandov, and demanded to give a statement advising other officers to leave the police force.
The video with the moment of the murder was released by Russian Interior Ministry and belonged to one of six militants killed in a special operation in Dagestan on September 7.
