Around 100 members of a traveller community violently protested in Moirans on Tuesday after authorities denied two members from getting temporary leave from prison to attend a funeral. Protesters torched and overturned cars, one of which was put onto a railway track. 120 police and 100 firefighters were called to the scene. Prime Minister Manuel Valls has described the incident as "unacceptable" and demanded "firmness" in response to related attacks. The request denial also sparked unrest in the prison, where around 20 prisoners broke cell locks and set a corridor on fire.
