At least 62 people were killed when a landslide tore through a town in northwest Colombia on Monday.
Heavy rains triggered the landslide that barreled through bridges and swept away homes in the town of Salgar, which has a population of just under 18,000.
Many were still asleep when the landslide stuck around 3 a.m. local time, and search rescue operations were still underway a day later.
The neighborhood of Santa Margarita in Salgar was almost entirely swept away due to its proximity to a river and the poor construction of homes.
