Protesters from the Zionist Federation demonstrated against the opening show of a Palestinian play at the Battersea Arts Council on Tuesday, claiming that the play "glamourises terrorism" and should not have receive funding from the Arts Council of England. The play 'The Siege' is centred around Palestinians holed-up under an Israeli siege for six weeks in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. The Zionist Federation also protested against the £14,000 (€19,500/$21,710) of UK government funding the film received. Zionist activist Maureen Lipman, who starred in the Pianist, also took part in the protest by criticising the UK government for funding the play.
