Kepler Laveran Lima Ferreira - better known as 'Pepe', praised the hard work of the Portuguese team after their 1-0 win against France in the UEFA championship finals in Paris, Sunday.
Pepe stated that they will go down in history for their success, "we had to fight, to give it all for our people, for our nation, and this is how we enter on the pitch. We enter the field with a will for working and being humble and that's how we got this positive result", he said.
Portugal beat France 1-0 at the Stade de France in Saint Dennis earlier in the evening.
Although Portugal lost star player Cristiano Ronaldo due to a knee injury in the first half, the team still managed to sweep the winning title after Eder scored in the 109th minute.
Following the victory over France, Portugal's Pepe was named Man of the Match and Renato Sanchez was awarded the title of Young Player of the Euro 2016.
