Russia: Chinese destroyer arrives in Vladivostok for joint naval exercises

Seven Chinese naval ships arrived at Vladivostok, on Thursday, to take part in the second stage of the Joint Sea 2015 exercises with Russia's Pacific fleet. Zhan Vendam, the Rear Admiral of the Chinese Navy, expressed his "warmest regards to the Russian military and the people of the beautiful city of Vladivostok." The Chinese destroyer the Shenyang was escorted into port by the anti-submarine ship the Marshall Shaposhnikov. After docking Vendam was greeted by the Deputy Commander of the Russian navy, Vice-Admiral Alexander Fedotenkov, who showed the admiral around Vladivostok's port. A total of 22 warships, 20 aircraft, 500 marines and 40 pieces of the armour are to be deployed for the Joint Sea 2015 exercises.
