Afghan security forces locked down an area of western Kabul after two suicide bombings took place close to the Afghan parliament and Russian Embassy, Monday. It is unclear how many people were killed or injured in the attack but there are believed to have been several casualities. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the bombings. Gunfire was also heard during the attack, which took place after nightfall, and it is believed that a number of gunmen may still be in the area. Power was cut to the surrounding area and families were evacuated by Afghan security forces. The target of the attack is believed to have been Naeem Baloch, the former governor of Helmand and ex-head of the Afghan spy agency. The explosions took place on Darul-Aman Road, close to Baloch's home, however the former Helmand governor told local media that he was out at the time of the bombings.
